Garden to Table Dinner FAQs

Below are some questions and answers about our Garden to Table event. If you don’t find what you need here, please go to the Garden to Table information page, or check out the fabulous menu.

  1. Who is the executive chef for this dinner? Local Lawrence Executive Chef Ken Baker.
  2. What is the date for this event? October 7, 2023 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Come 30 minutes early to walk around the farm.
  3. Where is the venue located? Saltwell Farm Kitchen, 214 N. 800 Road, Overbrook, Kansas 66524, 785-312-2498.
  4. What time is the first course served? The chef will begin serving the first course promptly at 6:30 p.m. Please be in your seat at the table at 6:25 p.m.
  5. What is the cost? $100 per person, or $125 per person with wine pairings.
  6. How many tickets will be sold? One hundred.
  7. When do tickets go on sale? Tickets are on sale now until 100 tickets are sold.
  8. How many tickets can I purchase? As many as you want.
  9. Will I get a receipt or ticket number? Yes. Bring your receipt, printed out or on your phone, to show when you arrive.
  10. Can I cancel my purchase? Tickets are transferrable, but no cancellations or refunds will be made.
  11. What is this money being used for? Douglas County Extension Master Gardeners General Operating Fund/Educational Programs and Scholarships.
  12. What happens if I encounter a problem or need help purchasing my tickets? Please contact Sharon Ashworth at 785-843-7058 or Will Spann at 785-727-6602. Please DO NOT CALL Saltwell about these tickets. They won’t know anything about purchasing tickets for this event.
  13. What is the menu and how many courses are there? The menu is a five course dinner.
  14. Is there a vegetarian option? Yes. You can select a vegetarian option when you purchase your ticket.
  15. Is there a vegan or gluten free option? Yes. Please contact Bob Bellucci (781) 953-0033, or Will Spann at 785-727-6602, if you need one of these options.
  16. What if I have a food allergy? Please let us know if you have a food allergy. Please review the menu so you can determine what to avoid.
  17. Is there a rain date? There is no rain date. This is a rain or shine event. Saltwell has indoor seating for 60. In the event of rain, we will have a tent on site to accommodate our remaining guests.
  18. How far do we have to walk from parking to our table? Your driver can always drop you off close to the area where we will be sitting so you only have a few steps to walk. The earlier you come, the closer you can park, and the less distance you will have to walk to get to your table. The later you come, the farther away you will have to park. There are a few things to see at Saltwell, so you might want to arrive early so you can walk around to see them.
